Technology to capture carbon dioxide emissions from industrial processes including Energy from Waste facilities, transport it via pipeline, and permanently store it underground or use it in products. UK EfW plants currently emit around 11 million tonnes of CO2 annually. The Climate Change Committee recommends new EfW facilities be built CCUS-ready and existing facilities retrofit CCUS, with potential to capture 9.4 million tonnes annually by 2040, including negative emissions from biogenic carbon.
